For the month of November I’ve decided to post each day
about a person or people who have influenced my life for good. There’s no way I
could include each and every person in one month or even one year, and for that
I hope you’ll forgive me. This year, especially, has brought an acute awareness
of the kindness and generosity which surrounds me and my kids, so here’s one
attempt at giving thanks.
1 – Bunnie
She told me once it’s because when she came home from the
hospital as a baby she was wearing a bunny outfit. That is how Helen becomes Bunnie.
Bunnie was the first person to talk to me at church when I
moved into this house in 2003. It was during Primary (the children’s class),
and she spoke with me and my oldest daughter, then 4 years old. Bunnie told us
of how much she loves hosting tea parties for her grandchildren and others in
the neighborhood.
Turns out it’s not just tea parties, Bunnie is the go-to
organizer for All The Things, and she seems to love it. She puts on a great
event, no matter what it is.
More than that, Bunnie astounds me with her seemingly
boundless energy and willingness to serve. The woman never stops moving. She
cares for her husband (who was severely injured in an accident years ago) and
her family and the students she works with and…well, as far as I can see, she
cares for just about everyone in her path. And she does it with a smile.
Over the years she’s brought countless flowers and cards and
gifts to thank me for, seriously, doing very, very little. It goes like this:
she asks me to do something; I say yes and probably space it; I end up doing
it, but not very well; she treats me like I did the biggest favor anyone ever
did and shows up at my door with a gift; I vow to be more like Bunnie (and
still haven’t yet).
Thanks, Bunnie. I love you.

I love Bunnie! She is the best example of kindness and being positive of anyone I have ever met!
Well, now I want to be more like Bunny, too! :D
