That's my favorite. Heehee.

Just to elaborate a little, upon hearing that ~J was from New York, many a person would ask her, "Could you see the Statue of Liberty from your window?"

The first time ~J told me that I was horrified! New York the state is HUGE, and there is such a thing as Upstate...

I weep for the future of America sometimes.

Not only is there an UPSTATE NEW YORK there is also a WESTERN NEW YORK which has a SOUTHERN TIER.

Did you take a taxi to school every day? And did you know how to play three card Monty?

"Why yes! I could also see the Brooklyn Bridge, Times Square, and the Empire State Building. It was awesome!"

Thanks for the compliment on my new 'do! Sometimes you just gotta mix it up, you know?

When I went to be a nanny in Westchester, I probably thought the same thing. My mom would write and ask me the same sort of questions.

People also have misconceptions about the west. When I came east to BYU people would ask where I was from. I would tell them and they would ask, "Do you know so and so?' (You know, because back then we were still settling the west.)

Like I knew everyone in the state of Oregon.

As often as not, however, I did.

Isn't that crazy?
