I’ve started school again. ...again.
It’s not easy admitting I don’t have a college degree. And it’s not easy going back to school. There’s never a perfect time, I don’t think. (*Except going right after high school and not stopping until you're finished. Kids, PLEASE DO THIS.) I mean, there are seasons, and likely there are better times than others, and being a freshman while approaching 40 doesn’t seem too appealing. But (and I know this is cliché), I’m going to turn [age] anyway, and when I do I can either have a degree, or not. So I’ve decided I will have a degree.
Getting to this stage hasn’t been easy, but here’s something that helped:
LDS Business College offers a scholarship for single moms. In fact...I wrote about this scholarship years ago (because OF COURSE I DID). Being a recipient of the scholarship has put me in a place of humility and gratitude, and has increased my drive to do well (which I didn’t think was possible).
LDSBC also offers an accredited degree in Social Media Marketing (whaaaaaaaat), so that’s what I’m studying.
Back in 2014 I took 20 credits as a Theatre Performance major at Utah Valley University (I had a tuition benefit there, then), which put me (with my sporadic history of attending college) at the position of being, technically, a sophomore.
One of my classes transferred. One.
I’m a freshman again.
And, YouGuys, I have, like, so much homework right now. So I’ll go do that.
